Track & Field Opens Raleigh Relays with Three Top 10s

RALEIGH, N.C. - - Sophomore Regan Lewis (Greenfield, Ind./Greenfield-Central) Â cleared a career-best outdoor height of 1.70m to place second in the high jump and open the 2017 Adidas Raleigh Relays with a Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championship automatic qualifying mark Friday afternoon at NC State's Paul Derr Track.

Overall, the Cardinals finished the opening day of the meet, which features athletes from over 80 different NCAA institutions, with three top 10 efforts and five career-best performances in the six events they competed in.

Ball State's other top 10 performances came in the 100m hurdles, starting with sophomore Jazmin Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Hill) who placed sixth with a time of 14.16. Freshman Jasmine Harris (Moreland Hills, Ohio/Orange) was not far behind, taking ninth with a career-fast effort of 14.34.

Sophomore Peyton Stewart (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) also turned in a solid performance in her 2017 individual outdoor debut, placing 12th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.08.

The Ball State track & field team opens the second day of competition at the Adidas Raleigh Relays at 11:45 a.m. tomorrow with the 4x1500m relay. Overall, the Cardinals are scheduled to compete in three individual events and four relays Saturday.
