Looking back at EKU game …
"Thank you to all of our fans that were there – the students, the Muncie community … Our goal is to have Scheumann Stadium full. We appreciate those that came out to support us. We look to build off this win at home just to continue to try to create some excitement. We need the fans. That makes it a great atmosphere. Our players feed off of that."
"The mindset for us going into the [EKU] week, it all started with stopping the run. The defense – the defensive staff, the defensive players – did a fantastic job of getting that done. That three yards rushing at the end of the day is very impressive."
Next up, Florida Atlantic …
"They've had two tough games the last two weeks … This is a good football team. This is a talented team, skill-wise … I know they are looking forward to erasing what just happened to them this past weekend against Kansas State. We're going to get their best effort."
On the start of the season for RB James Gilbert …
"James runs hard. He's a downhill runner… He's that guy that when you need a tough yard, there's a pretty darn good chance that James Gilbert's gonna get that yard. The credit really just goes to his hard work and preparation."
How do you keep the team from getting too high after a win like the one on Saturday?
"There are three games that exist now on the Ball State Cardinals. [Our opponents] are going to be able to say that this is a strength of theirs, this is a weakness of theirs. We have to fix our weaknesses. We have to continue to emphasize ball security. We had one knocked out on Saturday – two actually knocked out, one we lost. We have to continue to stress that in practice. We've got to fix that because teams are going to say 'Hey, we can get the ball out from this football team.'"
