Gymnastics Success at MAC Championships

Another athletic year is in the books for the Cardinals. Ball State student-athletes, coaches and teams accomplished several notable feats in 2015-16 and left their mark on the university.
Through much discussion, BallStateSports.com has identified the top 10 storylines of the year. We will reveal the storylines one-by-one each Monday for the next 10 weeks. In early August, once they have all been announced, fans will be able to vote for their favorite stories of the year.

Gymnastics Success at MAC Championships:
The Ball State Cardinals finished second out of seven teams with a program record team score of 195.650 at the 2016 MAC Championships held in Worthen Arena.
During the competition, the Cardinals earned season highs on vault (48.975), beam (48.850) and floor (49.275). The team also managed a score of 48.550 on bars.
Denasiha Christian opened the meet strong, by winning her first vault title at the MAC Championships with a score of 9.900. The performance marked the sixth individual vault title in program history. Sarah Ebeyer finished fourth with a score of 9.775.
Jordyn Penny swung into fourth place on bars with a score of 9.850, while Kayla Beckler stood 13th at 9.750.
On beam Baylee Bell earned 14th with a score of 9.825, matching her career high.
The Cardinals finished the meet on floor. Denasiha Christian was honored as the 2016 Mid-American Conference floor champion for the third consecutive year scoring a 9.950, matching her career high. Christian is only the fourth gymnast in program history to win two MAC Champion event titles in the same season.
For the first time since 2013 the Ball State gymnastics team sent five Cardinals to Regionals in Iowa City, Iowa, in hopes of qualifying for National play.
