Twenty Ball State Baseball Players Competing in Summer Leagues

MUNCIE, Ind. – Even though the season just wrapped up for the Ball State baseball team, a large number of players are continuing to compete on the baseball diamond this summer. Twenty Cardinals are playing on 15 different teams across seven leagues during the next couple of months.
Seven Ball State players have found their way to the Prospect League. Pitchers Brendan Burns and David Current are with the Chillicothe Paints, while Caleb Stayton and Nick Floyd are members of the the Kokomo Jackrabbits. Sean Kennedy (Champion City Kings), TJ Harmon (Lafayette Aviators) and Zach Milam (Terre Haute Rex) are also in the Prospect League.
Four key contributors from 2016 are playing in the Northwoods League – Colin Brockhouse, BJ Butler, Alex Maloney and Kevin Marnon. Butler and Marnon are suiting up for the Kalamazoo Growlers. Brockhouse is with the Madison Mallards while Maloney is competing for the Rockford Rivets.
Two pitchers and an infielder are spending their summer in the Great Lakes League – T.J. Baker with the Irish Hills Leprechauns, Evan Korson with the Cincinnati Steam and Evan Marquardt with the Lake Erie Monarchs.
Roman Baisa and Griffin Hulecki, two newcomers to the Ball State lineup this spring, are playing together on the Westhampton Aviators in the Hamptons League. Maverick Bacon and Nick Handlon are also on the same team this summer, the Twin City Bankers of the Indiana Summer Collegiate League.
Rising senior Matt Eppers in playing in the Coastal Plain League with the Wilson Tobs. Finally, Trevor Simon is a part of the Jamestown Jammers in the Perfect Game League.
The Cardinals concluded the season with a 32-26 record and won the MAC West Division title for the second time in the last three seasons.
