MUNCIE, Ind. – Former Ball State offensive lineman Jacob Richard took part in the New York Giants rookie minicamp over the weekend.
Richard started the final 37 games of his collegiate career at the center position and served two seasons as Ball State's team captain. The native of Weston, Connecticut, earned All-MAC honors in each of his final three years with the Cardinals. Richard was a part of an offensive line that led the way for the program's all-time leading rusher in 2014 (Jahwan Edwards) and all-time leading passer in 2013 (Keith Wenning).
He was a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's Campbell Trophy in 2015, which goes to the nation's best and brightest from the college gridiron. Richard earned his bachelor's degree from Ball State in May 2015 with a 3.642 grade point average.
The Cardinals are poised to return six starters on offense and nine on defense this fall. Ball State kicks off its 2016 season on Friday, Sept. 2 at Georgia State. The home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 17 against Eastern Kentucky.
