Track & Field Set For Saturday?s Miami Duals

MUNCIE, Ind. - - After opening the outdoor season with limited entries in its first two meets, the Ball State track & field team will have nearly everyone on the roster competing at Saturday's Miami Duals at the George Rider Track Complex in Oxford, Ohio.
A total of 23 Cardinals are schedule to compete in the one-day event which begins at 9:30 a.m. with action in the women's hammer throw. Seniors Marie Lumpkin and Michaela Hull will represent Ball State in the day's opening event, with Lumpkin entering the hammer throw ranked fourth in the Mid-American Conference with a league championship automatic qualifying mark of 55.40m (181'-9”).
Lumpkin and Hall are also scheduled to compete in the discus later in the afternoon, with Hull ranking fourth in the MAC in the event with a distance of 44.94m (147'-5”).
Freshman Regan Lewis looks to turn in another solid performance in the high jump, as she enters the weekend ranked eighth in the league by successfully clearing 1.67m (5'-5.75”) at the Stan Lyons Invitational, which is just shy of the MAC Championship standard of 1.68m (5'-6”).
Rounding out Ball State's top 10 ranked student-athletes on the MAC performance list entered in Saturday's meet are senior Zenée Gadson and junior Gabrielle Perryman who rank eighth (11.30m / 37'-1”) and ninth (10.85m / 35'-7.25”), respectively, in the triple jump.
Action on the track is slated to begin at Noon, with the women's 3000m run which will see sophomores Jessica Bryzek and Kitty Taylor compete at the distance for the second time this outdoor season. Both competed in the 3000m run at the season-opening Stan Lyons Invitational, turning in career-fast times of 10:37.95 and 10:56.32, respectively.
Junior Jordan Timmons will be competing in a pair of events for the second time this outdoor season, as she enters the weekend ranked 16th in the MAC in the 800m run (2:23.29) and 21st in the 1,500m run (4:49.83).
Mary Momper is the only other Ball State runner competing in an event for the second time this outdoor campaign, as she is slated to run in the 1500m run after turning in a career-best effort of 5:46.97 in the season-opener. The remainder of Ball State's student-athletes on the track will be competing in their individual events for the first time this outdoor season.
