March 25, 2016 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State football program held its annual Pro Day Thursday morning with 12 former Cardinals showing off their skills in front of numerous professional scouts.
Offensive lineman Ian Anderson, linebacker Michael Ayers, tight end Dylan Curry, tight end Billy Davis, defensive end Osazuwamen Igbinosun, defensive lineman Julian Jackson, fullback Keenan Noel, offensive lineman Nick Plavchak, offensive lineman Jacob Richard, offensive guard Jalen Schlachter, linebacker Chris Vann and wide receiver Jordan Williams took part in the festivities.
Each participant began the day in the football weight room rotating between the 225-pound bench press, broad jump and vertical jump. The tests continued on the turf field in the Jo Ann Gora Student Wellness and Recreation Center. The 40-yard dash, shuttle run, three-cone drill and position specific drills were all measured on the field by the 17 NFL and CFL scouts in attendance.
Several recent Cardinals have gone on to play professional football including wide receiver Willie Snead and quarterback Keith Wenning. Snead caught on with the New Orleans Saints in 2015 and finished second on the team in receiving yards (984). Wenning, who holds numerous passing records at Ball State, is a backup quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Current members of the Ball State football team will be back on the practice field for a pair of spring practices this weekend. Friday's practice is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., and Saturday's practice is set for 9:25 a.m.
The Cardinals will wrap up the spring season with a Spring Game on Saturday, April 23.
Ball State is poised to return six starters on offense and nine on defense for 2016. The Cardinals kick off their 2016 season the first weekend in September with a trip to Georgia State. Ball State's home opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 17 against Eastern Kentucky.
