
Gymnastics Falls to NC State on the Road

RALEIGH, N.C.—The Ball State Cardinals suffered a loss of 195.900-194.775 to east coast opponent North Carolina State Saturday evening inside Holliday Gym at Broughton High School.
“We had some really great performances tonight,” said head coach Joanna Saleem. “We had a few minor mistakes but our competitive spirit never waivered. We ended the night with multiple career highs, and solid balance beam routines.”
The Cardinals managed a season high on beam scoring a 48.850. On vault the team scored a 48.550, on bars a 48.525 and on floor a 48.850.
The team started the competition on bars. Jordyn Penny scored a 9.825 placing fourth. Kayla Beckler scored a 9.775 landing her in seventh place.
During the second rotation the Cardinals competed vault. Shelby Arms matched her career high with the score a 9.750, placing third. Sarah Ebeyer followed with a 9.725 earning her fifth place. Erin Patchey and Jala Washington scored 9.700, respectively.
On floor, Shelby Arms earned a career high scoring a 9.850 earning her second place. Sydney Finke stood sixth, also scoring a career high of 9.825. Sarah Ebeyer and Erin Patchey tied for seventh scoring a 9.800.
The Cardinals finished the meet on beam. Baylee Bell and Jordyn Penny tied for second with a 9.800. Sarah Ebeyer worked her way back into line up scoring a 9.775 earning her fifth place. Jackie Duffy scored a 9.750, recording a career high and sixth place.
“Tonight's performances added to our team's confidence and excitement going into the Mid-American Conference Championship,” Saleem said. “Ball State is excited to host and compete in the competitive atmosphere in the MAC.”
Your Cardinals will return home to host the Mid-American Conference Championship in Worthen Arena, Saturday, Mar. 19, at 2 p.m.
