Track & Field Earns Four Career-Bests on Day One of GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. - - The Ball State track & field team opened competition at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet with four career-best times Friday afternoon at the Kelly Family Sports Center.
In the team's first event of the day, the 5000m run, junior Ericka Rinehart (Angola, Ind./Angola) led a trio of Cardinals to the finish line with a career-fast time of 18:40.03. She was followed by sophomore Jessica Bryzek (Brownsburg, Ind./Indiana Academy) and freshman Rachel Bales (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) who finished with personal-bests of 18:51.14 and 19:14.11, respectively.
Junior Jordan Timmons (Bargersville, Ind./Center Grove) was the Cardinals' final competitor on the track, ending the opening day with a career-best effort of 5:17.52 in the mile run.
Ball State will pick up the action Saturday, as its student-athletes are schedule to compete in 12 events starting with the jumps and throws at 9 a.m.
