Matt Howard Accepts Head Coaching Position at IU Kokomo
December 01, 2016 | Baseball
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State volunteer assistant baseball coach Matt Howard has accepted a position as the head baseball coach at IU Kokomo, which will be fielding its inaugural team in the spring of 2018.
"In a short period of time, coach Howard made a strong connection with our players and staff," Ball State head coach Rich Maloney said. "IU Kokomo is getting a good one. I am excited for Matt's future and the future of his program."
Before joining Ball State as a volunteer coach earlier this year, Howard had also served as an assistant coach at LaSalle University. He was the head coach for the Kokomo Jackrabbits of the Prospect League in both 2015 and 2016. Howard played collegiate baseball at Slippery Rock University and then professionally for the Traverse City Beach Bums (2012-13) and Southern Illinois Miners (2014-16).
