Recapping the Toledo game …
"[I'm] disappointed as much as anything else for the seniors. I know it was important to all these guys to take advantage of the moment and to win our final two games to become bowl eligible, to have an opportunity to get into a bowl game and be the first team in school history to win a bowl game. That was the vision. That was the focus for us. There was disappointment in the locker room, but I told the guys at the end of the game I am proud of their fight. I am proud of who they are."
Thoughts on the season finale at Miami …
"We still have something left here. Every game is important … you play 12 of them. We are going to play for pride. We have the opportunity to put that Ball State uniform on one last time and to represent the University and program with class, which I know they all will. We are going to make sure, all of the underclassmen and the staff, we are going to give [the seniors] our best over the next few days of practice. I care about this group of guys. I want them to leave with a great memory here and we can certainly do that."
Challenges facing a hot Miami squad …
"They've won five straight games. They've done a very good job of being consistent weekly with [QB Gus Ragland.] They've made some big plays when the opportunities have presented themselves. They haven't turned the ball over a lot and their defense is the top defense in the league right now. They are playing with a lot of confidence and I think that stands out on tape as much as anything else."
On WR KeVonn Mabon and his senior season …
"One thing I love about KeVonn is that he is a tough guy. He plays as hard as anybody does, every single game. He gets hit. He gets banged up, but yet he is always ready to practice. He practices through pain. He practices through injury. He truly appreciates playing the game. You love to see guys like that. I know I've said this before, but feel fortunate to have worked with him here."
