Stewart Advances To 60m Dash Finals, Highlighting Day 1 of Gladstein Invite for T&F

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - The Ball State indoor track & field team opened the two-day Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana with a pair of preliminary heat wins Friday evening at IU's Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Overall, the Cardinals competed in seven events on the opening day of the meet, and will conclude action by participating in five more Saturday.
Freshman Peyton Stewart (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) highlighted Ball State's efforts Friday, winning her preliminary heat in the 60m dash with a time of 7.65 to earn the fourth seed in Saturday's event final.
Classmate Jazmin Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio / North College Hill) won her heat in the 60m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 8.92 to place 13th among the 33 runners in the field.
Ball State received a strong effort from freshman Amber McGee (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) who placed 17th in the 400m dash with a career-best clocking of 58.16.
