September 13, 2015 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – Former Ball State football players Jonathan Newsome and Willie Snead will be representing the Cardinals today in season opening National Football League games.
Newsome, who played for the Cardinals in 2012 and 2013 as a defensive end, is now in his second season with the Indianapolis Colts. The two-time All-MAC performer led Indianapolis with 6.5 sacks a year ago.
Snead made the active roster for the New Orleans Saints this fall after playing on the practice squad for the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans in 2014. Snead posted back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons in 2012 and 2013 for Ball State. He was a first team All-MAC honoree in 2013.
Three other former Cardinals are currently members of NFL practice squads. Running back Jahwan Edwards is with the Atlanta Falcons, quarterback Keith Wenning is with the Cincinnati Bengals and corner back Eric Patterson is with the Indianapolis Colts.
