Hague, Richard Receive MAC Medal of Excellence

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State women's golfer Jenna Hague and football player Jacob Richard were awarded the Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence at the league's annual Honors Dinner Wednesday night in Cleveland.
Instituted a year ago, the Medal of Excellence is presented to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the league's 12 member institutions.
To be considered for the Medal of Excellence, student-athletes must participate on the varsity level in a conference-sponsored sport and show evidence of academic success with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. They must also exhibit athletics excellence, leadership and service.
Hague finished her career this spring tied for the MAC women's golf record with six career tournament victories. The Burlington, Ontario, product finished with the second-best career stroke average in Ball State history (77.22) while setting the school records for single-season average (74.34), 18-hole score (66) and 54-hole score (214). She competed in an NCAA Regional in 2014.
Hague graduated this spring with a 3.583 GPA in finance. She is a three-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar.
Richard, a football team captain from Weston, Conn., started all 12 games at center for the second year in a row. He was selected for a second consecutive season to the All-MAC Third Team after helping to pave the way for Ball State all-time leading rusher Jahwan Edwards.
Richard earned his bachelor's degree in marketing, graduating this spring with a 3.642 GPA. He has another season of eligibility for the Cardinals in the fall and will enroll in Ball State's MBA program.
