Women's Tennis Defeats N.C. Central 6-1 Tuesday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Ball State women's tennis team, downed N.C. Central by a 6-1 final score Tuesday afternoon at the UNC Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Cardinals improved their overall record to 7-2 on the season while the Eagles dropped to 2-6 on the year.
Ball State took the early 1-0 advantage over N.C. Central after taking the doubles point from the Eagles. Courtney Earnest and Rosalinda Calderon took down NCCU's Rebecca Wood and Ekaterina Nekrasova by a score of 6-2 on court one. Bethany Moore alongside doubles partner Courtney Wild defeated Aissa Muamba and Mia Ramic, by the same score at the No. 2 spot.
The Cardinals continued their winning ways in singles action, winning five of the six matches. Wild, Earnest, Toni Ormond and Calderon all won in their respective positions in straight sets. Moore dropped her first set 6-4 on court five against Mia Ramic but fought back to win 6-4 in the second set. She went on to win the match in a 16-14 tie breaker.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring action in Chapel Hill, N.C. when it takes on North Carolina-Charlotte, Thursday at 2 p.m. After Thursday's match, the Cardinals will return home March 14 for a 1:30 p.m. match against Oakland in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
