Football Falls to Western Michigan in Thursday Night Action

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Host Western Michigan earned a 54-7 victory over the Ball State football team Thursday night at Waldo Stadium.
The Broncos (6-3, 5-0 MAC) have won five straight games and currently sit atop of the Mid-American Conference West Division standings.
Western Michigan scored on the third offensive play of the game, a 65-yard touchdown pass from Zach Terrell to Corey Davis, and never looked back.
“I thought despite the short week, we had a decent week of preparation,” Ball State head coach Pete Lembo said. “But obviously it didn't show out here at all tonight. We'll try to get this group regrouped and finish strong.”
Ball State's (3-7, 2-4) lone scoring drive came in the third quarter when freshman quarterback Riley Neal hit senior wide receiver Jordan Williams on a perfect 11-yard fade pattern. The scoring drive was keyed by a 30-yard run from freshman James Gilbert.
The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Ohio. That game will be televised on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
