Gymnastics Denasiha Christian Earns MAC Award

Denasiha Christian, a junior on the Ball State gymnastics team, has been named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week for her performance in the Cardinals meet vs. two-time defending national champion Florida.
Christian tied for fourth on the vault with a 9.85 score, which tied her personal best. She also placed third on the floor with a 9.85 mark against the Gators, which are ranked No. 1 in the nation in the preseason poll in 2015.
"Denasiha was a solid specialist in our season opener against the University of Florida," Ball State head coach Joanna Saleem said. "She was limited in her training during the fall due to medical issues and was only allowed to start full training on Nov. 24. Denasiha has worked very hard to be prepared for the season and came out with competitive performances against Florida."
Ball State, which lost to Florida 196.925 to 193.700, will continue the 2015 season with a meet at Iowa which includes Michigan State.
