Nick Plavchak Steps Up for Football Cards
September 04, 2014 | Football
Nick Plavchak's is a story of hard work.
Coming out of Guerin Catholic High School in Carmel, IN, Plavchak wasn't a 'hot' prospect for many Division-I college football teams. The tackle received interest from St. Francis in Fort Wayne and St. Thomas in Minnesota, both D-III institutions, but never fully entertained college ball until the end of his senior season.
Short on time, 'Plav' put together a tape and started getting his name out there. Ball State's John Strollo bit. But without a scholarship to give, the Cardinals had to take on Plav as a walk-on. That's a status he held until last month. First Plavchak earned a scholarship. Then he earned a starting job.
With an injury to Drake Miller prior to the 2014 opener vs. Colgate, Plavchak got the call to stand in. Check out this Ball State All-Access exclusive to see Plav's full story and climb within the Cards.
