Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season Thursday At USF

Track & Field Hosts Ball State Quad Friday At 5 pm

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State track & field team opens its 2014 outdoor season Thursday, when it travels to Tampa, Fla., for the USF Bulls Invitational.

In addition to the Cardinals and host Bulls, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida Southern, Georgia State, Indianapolis, Marshall, Northwood, NYU, Ramapo, Rutgers, Southeastern, Saint Leo, Tampa, Toronto and UCF are slated to compete at the USF Track & Field Stadium.

The Cardinals are sending 10 participants to the two-day meet, including junior Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) and freshman Makelle Skelton (Fort Wayne, Ind./Northrop) who will be the lone Ball State student-athletes in action on the first day of the meet when the compete in the long jump at 5 p.m.

The triple jump will be Ball State's first event Friday, with competition slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. for freshman Gabrielle Perryman (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood). Running events are slated to begin at 11 a.m. with a rolling schedule throughout the day.
