October 10, 2014 | Soccer
ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ball State soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision Friday at Ohio in Mid-American Conference play.
It was a scoreless game at halftime, but Ohio's Megan Niebuhr found the net less than four minutes into the second half. The Bobcats maintained their one-goal advantage the rest of the way.
Ball State, now 6-4-2 (2-3 MAC), continues its weekend road trip Sunday with a 4 p.m. contest at Kent State, which played Miami University to a 1-1 draw Friday. Ohio improved its record to 6-7 (3-2 MAC) with Friday's win.
"Our team gave the effort, but we are struggling to convert offensively right now," Ball State coach Craig Roberts said. "We are in a dry spell for whatever reason, but we will continue to work our way out of it."
Victoria Jacobs, Chay McNitt and Kelsey Wendlandt each registered two shots for Ball State. The Cardinals managed seven shots on goal for the game, but goalkeeper Nicole Amari and the Ohio defense stopped all of them.
Ball State goalkeeper Brooke Dennis turned in a strong night of her own, matching her career high with eight saves to keep the Cardinals within striking distance.
