Track & Field Heads To BG Opener Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - - With winter break behind it, the Ball State indoor track & field team returns to action at 11 a.m. Saturday, when it travels to Bowling Green's Perry Fieldhouse for the BG Opener.
In addition to the Cardinals and host Falcons, other schools scheduled to compete in the scored meet are Western Michigan, Toledo and IPFW.

The meet begins at 11 a.m. with action in four field events; weight throw, long jump, high jump and triple jump. The first track event will be the 5000m run slated for 12:30 p.m., while the meet is scheduled to conclude at 3:40 p.m. with the 4x400m relay.
Ball State opened the 2013-14 indoor season Dec. 7, by posting seven event victories at the Gerry England Alumni Open hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
In addition to the seven event victories, Ball State's high jumping duo of redshirt junior Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) and junior Haley Austin (Avon, Ind./Avon) posted Mid-American Conference Indoor Championship qualifying marks. Lomax won the high jump by successfully clearing 5'-7" (1.70m) in her hometown meet, while Austin placed second at 5'-6" (1.68m).
Overall, the Cardinals won four of the six field events, while capturing top honors in three of the six track events they entered at the non-scored event.
