SCOUTING BALL STATE: The Cardinals are 11-10 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-American Conference after winning one of three games in their MAC opening series at home vs. Akron last weekend . . . Ball State is 3-5 in road games this season . . . The Cardinals will play at Kent State in a three game series Friday through Sunday.
SCOUTING KENT STATE: The Golden Flashes are 8-14 overall after suffering an 8-1 loss to Notre Dame in a game played at a neutral site in Gary, Ind. . . . Kent State is 2-1 in the MAC after taking two of three games from Northern Illinois last weekend in a series played in Chicago, Ill. . . . Ball State's games at Kent State will mark the home opener for the Golden Flashes . . . Sawyer Polen leads the team in hitting with a .337 batting average, while Evan Campbell is batting at a .312 clip.
THE SERIES: Ball State and Kent State have met in baseball 100 times with the Golden Flashes holding a 55-45 all-time advantage in the series . . . Kent State swept the three game series from the Cardinals last season in Muncie, Ind. . . . The teams did not meet in 2010 or 2011, and split the two game series in 2009 . . . Ball State's last trip to Kent State was in 2008 when the Cardinals swept the three game series.
