Men's Tennis Sweeps In-State Rival IUPUI

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team managed a 7-0 sweep over IUPUI Sunday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. With the win the Cardinals improve to 4-4 on the season.
The Cardinals took the early 1-0 edge over the Jaguars after winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Dalton Albertin and Patrick Elliott captured an 8-6 win at the No. 1 spot. Austin Smith and Austin Sansone earned the 8-3 victory at the No. 3 position.
Ball State swept all six of its singles matches, Albertin took down Jason Jaruvang 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) at the No. 1 slot. Imanol Arconada, Smith and Sansone all won in straight sets in their respective positions while Alexandre Brym beat Nick Volz 7-6 (8-6), 7-5 at No. 3. Elliott also ended the day with a win over Deon Shafer 1-6, 7-6 (7-5), 13-11.
The Ball State men's tennis team will be back in action Wednesday, Feb. 20 when the Cardinals host a double-header against IPFW (3 p.m.) and Indiana Tech (7 p.m.) at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
