Football Players Earn MAC Weekly Awards

Ball State football players Kyle Schmidt and Willie Snead were honored with Mid-American Conference awards for their performances in the Cardinals 27-24 win over Kent State.
Snead, a junior wide receiver, had 10 catches for 152 yards and two touchdowns vs. Kent State and was named the MAC West Division Offensive Player of the Week. Snead's game-winning touchdown catch with 1:29 to play in the game was a seven yard reception from quarterback Keith Wenning. He also had a 45-yard reception on the first play of the game-winning drive. Snead has now managed 100 or more yards receiving in four straight games.
Schmidt, a freshman punter, was named the MAC West Division Special Team's Player of the Week. He punted four times for 183 yards and a 45.8 average in Ball State's win over Kent State. Schmidt pinned the Golden Flashes inside the 20-yard line twice and had a game long punt of 51 yards.
With the victory over Kent State, Ball State improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the MAC. The Cardinals will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., Saturday for a 2 p.m. game vs. Western Michigan.
