T&F Heads to Western Michigan?s Jack Shaw Classic

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State outdoor track & field team heads to Kalamazoo, Mich. Friday for Mid American Conference foe Western Michigan's annual Jack Shaw Classic from the Kanley Track & Field Complex.
The meet will start at 4:15 p.m. with the field events, while the running events begin at 6:55 p.m. Ball State enters the meet after posting seven event victories Saturday at Miami's RedHawk Invitational from the George L. Rider Track.
In the sprint events, Jordan McMillan (Portland, Ind./Jay County) posted a win in the 100m dash with a time of 12.80, while Thekla Lorenz (Hamburg, Germany) earned a victory in the 400m hurdles (1:02.32).
MaryKate Mellen (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) finished first in the 1500m run (4:37.17) and Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) tallied a win in the 5000 run (18:09.10).
In the field events, Haley Austin (Avon, Ind./Avon High) leaped to a height of 5-1.75 for first place in the high jump, while Christina Crawford (Belleville, Mich./Romulus) placed first in the long jump (17-4.75/5.30m).
Additional top performances for the Cardinals include a victory in the javelin throw (106-9/32.53m) and eighth-place finish in the hammer throw (138-5/42.20m) by Jorden Traver (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison).
Overall, Ball State's student-athletes are ranked in the top-20 in this week's MAC Rankings a total of 21 times.
