
Men's Tennis Captures 6-1 Win Over Butler

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team for the third straight season in the row defeated in-state rival Butler Thursday evening by a score of 6-1 at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
With the win the Cardinals have improved their overall record to 14-6 on the season. Head Coach Bill Richards is now one victory shy of his 600th career win he currently has a total of 599 victories.
Ball State took the early 1-0 edge over Butler after winning the doubles point. It came down to the Cardinal twosome of Zane Smith and Derek Carpenter on court two after they captured a close 9-8 (5) over the Bulldogs Tommy Marx and Zach Ervin which led to the Cardinals early advantage.
In singles action, Ball State won five-of-the-six singles matches which led to its defeat over the Bulldogs. Ray Leonard, Austin Smith , Zane Smith and Patrick Elliott all won in straight sets in their respective positions.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues in-state rival action when it travels to Notre Dame Saturday. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. (EST).
