Baseball America Names Godfrey To Top Prospect List

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State sophomore outfielder Sean Godfrey (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) has been named to Baseball America's Top Prospect list for the 20 different summer college leagues and Team USA. Godfrey is one of just three players on the list from the Mid-American Conference joining Buffalo's Tom Murphy (New England Collegiate) and Ohio's Seth Streich (Great Lakes).
Godfrey ranks as the ninth best prospect in the Cal Ripken League playing for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He led his team and finished sixth in the league with a .357 batting average in 39 games over the summer. He was tied for the league-lead in triples (3), second in the league in stolen bases (20), fifth in hits (51), fifth in doubles (9) and sixth in runs scored (28). He was named to the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League (CRCBL) All-Star Team as a starter and notched two hits in the game.
Godfrey played 32 games as a freshman for the Cardinals and posted a .272 batting average as he tallied 28 hits and drove in 14 runs. He picked up his play in Mid-American Conference action as he posted a .306 batting average which ranked third on the team in 16 starts.
Baseball America ranked the top 30 prospects for the Cape Cod League, the top 20 prospects in the Northwoods league, and the top 10 prospects in 17 other summer college leagues, plus a top five in the fledgling Futures League. In addition, the top 20 Team USA prospects were ranked.
