Baseball's Sean Godfrey Earns All-Star Honors

SAINT LEONARD, Md. - Ball State sophomore outfielder Sean Godfrey (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) has been named to the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League (CRCBL) All-Star Team as a starter. Godfrey will represent the CRCBL July 11 when it faces the All-Star team from the Valley Baseball League (VBL) in Harrisonburg, Va.
Godfrey, who made 25 starts as a freshman last spring, has been one of the top hitters in the CRCBL playing for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He is second in the league with a .398 batting average and is third in the league in OPS at 1.010. In 25 games this summer, he leads the league in stolen bases (17), is fifth in runs (21) and seventh in RBI (16). He has helped the Nationals to a second place standing in the CRCBL through the first half of the year.
Godfrey played 32 games as a freshman for the Cardinals and posted a .272 batting average as he tallied 28 hits and drove in 14 runs. He picked up his play in Mid-American Conference action as he posted a .306 batting average which ranked third on the team in 16 starts.
The Ripken League and the Valley League are both proud members of the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball, an organization which fosters cooperation and coordination among summer college baseball leagues around the nation.
