May 04, 2011 | Football
Corey Bass, a 2007 graduate of East Carolina, has been named Ball State's assistant athletic director for football operations, according to head coach Pete Lembo.
"Words cannot express how excited I am to have Corey join us here at Ball State," Lembo says. "He grew up around Division I athletics and did an exceptional job in his operations role at Elon. The players, athletic department staff members and campus constituents here at Ball State will quickly get to know him. Corey's interpersonal and organizational skills will enable him to make an immediate impact on our program."
Since February of 2010, Bass has served as the director of football operations at Elon, where he worked for Lembo. Bass was responsible for coordinating and assisting with day-to-day administrative duties of the Elon football program and assisted the head coach with promotion of the football program through alumni and community relations.
Prior to working directly with the football program at Elon, Bass was a marketing assistant for ISP Sports, the marketing and radio rights holder at Elon. Bass was responsible for selling and servicing advertising and sponsorship accounts and served as the liaison between Elon ISP Sports Network and the Elon athletics department.
A football student-athlete at East Carolina in 2006 and 2007, Bass served as the assistant director of fundraising and business development for the Carolina Mudcats from January to July of 2008. The Mudcats are the Double A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. During 2008-09, Bass served as a sports marketing graduate assistant at East Carolina.
Bass, who earned his bachelor's degree from East Carolina in December of 2007, earned a master's degree from East Carolina in May of 2009. His father, Jimmy Bass, was named the director of athletics at UNC-Wilmington in December of 2010.
Bass takes the place of Jay Steilberg, who spent from 2003-10 as Ball State's director of football operations and resigned to enter private business.
