May 24, 2011 | Track & Field
MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State outdoor track & field freshman multi-event specialist Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport H.S.) was one of 48 individuals selected to compete in the high jump at the 2011 NCAA East Preliminary Round competition hosted by Indiana May 26-28 at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex.
The women's high jump competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Friday, May 27, with the top 12 performers advancing to the NCAA Championships June 8-11 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
The 2011 Mid-American Conference outdoor high jump champion, Lomax enters the event ranked 19th among the 48 entrants with a height of 5-10 (1.78m). She will be the lone Mid-American Conference student-athlete in the event.
At last weekend's Mid-American Conference Championships, Lomax posted her NCAA-qualifying leap of 5-10 to become just the third MAC high jump champion in program history and BSU's first since the 1985 season. The effort was also a NIU Track & Field Complex record, the second-best mark in program history and earned her First Team All-MAC accolades.
