April 10, 2011 | Track & Field
OXFORD, Ohio - - With rough weather all around, including a four-hour lighting and rain delay, the Ball State outdoor track & field team competed in just two events at Saturday's Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
BSU's lone events were the 5,000m run and the discus. Redshirt sophomore distance runner Madeline Goheen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger H.S.) paced the Cardinals in the 5,000m run with a 15th-place time of 18:28.53.
Freshman Kate Krull (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) was BSU's top performer in the discus, placing 24th with a toss of 126-5.
Ball State would not score in the event, while league rival and host Miami won the competition with 111 points.
The Ball State outdoor track & field team returns to action next weekend, when it returns to Purdue for the second time in the last three weeks for the 2011 Dave Rankin Invitational.
