Ball State's gymnastics team, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Nadalie Walsh, finished fourth out of seven teams at the Mid-American Conference Championships in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
Central Michigan won the team title with a 195.900, while Ball State was fourth with a 193.175. The fourth place finish was the best for the Cardinals since the 2007 season.
The Cardinals entered the MAC Championships after completing a 3-3 league regular season. The three conference victories are the most for a Ball State team since the 2002 season when the Cardinals were also 3-3. Walsh led Ball State to a season high score of 194.525 team score at Kent State, which was the 11th highest team total in school history.
Nicole Allen led Ball State and tied for the individual title on the vault with a career high 9.900 and on the floor with a 9.875, which tied her career best mark. Allen's two victories marks the first time a Ball State gymnast has accomplished that feat since Laura Szczepanski won the bars and the beam in 2000.
Allen placed sixth in the all-around with a career high 38.950 mark, while Brittney Emmons tied for seventh in the all-around with a 38.900.
Emmons finished third on the vault with a 9.850, tied for eighth on the balance beam with a 9.725 and tied for 15th on the floor with a 9.775.
Aftyn Siemer tied for fourth on the floor with a career high 9.850, while Amber Mirski tied for 10th on the floor with a 9.800, which tied her career best mark.
Kayla Kmiecik tied for eighth on the beam with a 9.725, which tied her career high, while Leah Wilson and Emily Wehrle tied for 11th on the beam with 9.700 marks.
