
Buffalo Sinks Women's Swimming & Diving; 174.5-118.5

BUFFALO, N.Y. - - In its final Mid-American Conference dual meet of the 2010-11 season, the Ball State women's swimming & diving team suffered a 174.5-118.5 setback at Buffalo's Alumni Arena Natatorium Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals drop to 4-3 (1-2 MAC) in dual competition with the loss, while the Bulls improve to 6-2 (3-1 MAC) with their fifth straight dual win of the season.
The host Bulls won the first five events before BSU senior Alanna Bader (Monroe, Wis./Monroe H.S.) picked up a victory in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.67.
Two events later, junior diver Christina Riordan (Homewood, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor H.S.) posted a career-best and Ball State school record three-meter diving score of 312.00.
After five more event wins by the Bulls, the Cardinals scored wins in the meet's final three events to finish the day with five first-place efforts in the 16 events.
Junior diver Whitney Adams (Danville, Ind./Danville H.S.) posted a score of 257.02 to win the one-meter diving competition, while freshman Haley Richter (Roanoke, Ind./Columbia City H.S.) took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.60.
The Cardinals' final event win came in the 400 freestyle relay, with junior Nicole Saulters (Highland, Ind./Highland H.S.), sophomore Jillian Bischoff (Atlanta, Ind./Hamilton Heights H.S.), freshman Emily Wisolek (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge H.S.) and junior Katie Bylsma (Westfield, Ind./Pinckney H.S.) turned in a time of 3:38.62.
The Ball State women's swimming & diving team concludes the dual meet portion of its 2010-11 schedule next Saturday with a 1 p.m. meet at Notre Dame.
