
Men's S&D Takes Second At Butler Invite

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - - The Ball State men's swimming & diving team tallied wins on seven of 16 events to place second at Sunday's Butler Invitational hosted at Fishers High School.
Xavier edged out the Cardinals in the three-team meet with 712 points, while BSU posted 698. Valparaiso placed third with 308 points.
Juniors Gavin McNeeley (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester H.S.) and Chris Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike H.S.) each tallied a pair of event wins in the meet. McNeeley swept the breaststroke events with a time of 59.97 in the 100 and 2:12.06 in the 200. Krupa won both the butterfly events, turning in a time of 50.79 in the 100 and 1:55.65 in the 200.
The Cardinals also turned in a dominating performance on the diving boards, with senior Jeremy Whited (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) winning the three-meter (200.40) and senior Chris Behrle (Chelmsford, Mass./Lourdes H.S.) winning the one-meter (222.35).
Rounding out BSU's event winners was junior Casey Schroeder (Williamsport, Ind./Seeger Memorial H.S.) who posted a final wall touch of 21.66 in the 50 freestyle.
The Ball State men's swimming & diving team will have its final tune-up before the Mid-American Conference Championships when it travels to league rival Miami for a 4 p.m. swim Saturday, Feb. 5.
