Track & Field Heads To Gladstein Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State indoor track & field team continues its 2011 slate this weekend, when it travels to Bloomington, Ind., for the 2011 Gladstein Invitational hosted by Indiana.
The two-day meet features more than 20 teams and over 800 student-athletes. Action begins at Noon Friday with the 60m hurdles race of the pentathlon. Field events start at 3:30 p.m. Friday, while track events begin at 4:25 p.m.
Saturday's women's action is set to begin at 11 a.m. with the 200m dash finals.
Entering the meet, the Cardinals have eight student-athletes ranked in the top 20 in their respective events in the Mid-American Conference.
Sophomore Judah Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain H.S.) is BSU's top-ranked runner, holding the No. 2 slot in the 500m dash (1:19.02). Senior Kelsey Nielsen (Bremen, Ind./Bremen H.S.) is right behind, ranking fourth in the league in the 5,000m run (19:09.01).
In the 60m hurdles, senior Ra'Jae Marable (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer H.S.) enters the week ranked eighth in the MAC at 8.93.
Senior Thekla Lorenz (Hamburg, Germany) is BSU's top-ranked field event participant, with a No. 3 showing in the long jump (18-10.5). Freshman Rebecca Lomax (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport H.S.) enters the week tied for fifth in the league in the high jump (5-5).
