Mackenzie Pacovsky, a graduate of Orono High School in Minnesota, will attend Ball State University and compete on the women's gymnastics team, according to Ball State's fourth-year head gymnastics coach Nadalie Walsh.
"We are really excited to be adding Mackenzie Pacovsky to our program," Walsh says. "We see a lot of potential for her to be a strong addition to our bar and vault line up. We are eager to shape and grow her into a solid competitor. Mackenzie is an outstanding student as well, which is great for Ball State because hard working students make hard working athletes."
Pacovsky competed in club gymnastics for Coach Ryan Rohloff for eight years and completed her 2009-10 season at Level 10. She competed at the regional and state level last season after placing third in the beam at regionals in 2007-08 and managing a fifth place at beam and 10th place in the all-around at the state meet. In 2006-07, Pacovsky had top-10 finishes in the state in the vault (4th), bars (3rd), beam (3rd) and all-around (2nd).
Pacovsky graduated from Orono with a 3.75 grade-point average on the school's 4.0 scale and plans to major in journalism at Ball State.
