2010 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout Bracket Announced

MUNCIE, Ind. - The 2010 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout bracket was announced Wednesday and the Ball State men's basketball team will open the tournament Wednesday, November 24 when the Cardinals take on Big East foe St. John's at 9:45 p.m. local time (1:45 a.m. 11/25 ET). The 2010 shootout will be an eight-team bracket with all games played at Sullivan Arena.
Other teams on the Cardinals' side of the bracket include Southern Utah and Drake while the bottom half of the bracket features Houston Baptist, Arizona State, Weber State and host Alaska Anchorage. The winner of the Cardinals/Red Storm contest will meet the winner of Southern Utah/Drake Friday November 26 at 5:30 p.m. local time while the losers of both games will meet at noon local time.
The game will Ball State's first meeting against St. John's head coach Steve Lavin since the Cardinals knocked off No. 4 UCLA 91-73 the Maui Invitational during the 2001-02 season.
