April 19, 2010 | Softball
"We are excited to have Kaila become a part of our team," Nicholson says. "She is an outstanding student-athlete who will greatly contribute to our program, and we are looking forward to watching her progress in her senior year at Decatur High School and then welcoming her to Ball State's campus."
Overstreet started for the Decatur Central softball team in the 2009 season and hit at a .374 clip in 83 at-bats for the Hawks. She tallied four doubles, two triples and 14 stolen bases as a junior. Overstreet was named to the All-Marion County, Mid-State All-Conference and All-District teams last season.
Prior to her junior season at Decatur, Overstreet attended Lutheran High School in Indianapolis and was a two-year starter on the softball and basketball teams. At Lutheran, Overstreet was a member of the Class A Indiana High School Softball State Championship team in 2007 and helped Lutheran to Class A Indiana High School Softball sectional and regional titles in 2007 and 2008.
A member of the National Honor Society, Overstreet plans to major in physical therapy and minor in American Sign Language at Ball State.
