
Gymnastics Defeats Eastern Michigan at Worthen Arena

Ball State's gymnastics team, under the direction of head coach Nadalie Walsh, tallied a 193.450 to 193.425 win over visiting Eastern Michigan Sunday in Worthen Arena. The win improved the Cardinals to 6-10 overall with the Mid-American Conference Championships as the lone team event remaining. Ball State will travel to Bowling Green for the MAC Championships Saturday at 7 p.m.
Ball State opened the meet on the vault, while the Eagles tallied a 48.250 on the bars. The Cardinals kept the meet all tied with a 48.250 on the vault.
Brittney Emmons led the Cardinals with a 9.775 to place second, while Bibiana Rodriguez managed a season best 9.675 to tie for fifth. Tiffany Brodbeck recorded a 9.65 and Nicole Allen tallied a 9.625.
Ball State moved to the bars with EMU competing on the vault. The Eagles took the early advantage on the day with a 48.625 on the vault, while Ball State tallied a 48.450 on the bars. Ball State's team score on the bars was its second best of the 2010 season.
After two events EMU led 96.875 to 96.700. On the bars, Katelyn Busacker and Rodriguez led the Cardinals with a pair of 9.725 scores to tie for second in the event. Julie Cotter added a 9.700, while Morgan Coslow and Emmons each tallied a 9.65. The 9.65 for Coslow was a career high.
Eastern Michigan put together a 48.725 on the floor, while the Cardinals managed a 47.875 on the beam. After three events, the Eagles led 145.600 to 144.575.
On the beam, Ball State was led by Jullie Cotter, who placed third with a 9.675. Emmons managed a 9.600, while Brodbeck and Emily Wehrle scored a pair of 9.55's.
With only one event remaining, Ball State took to the floor and EMU moved to the beam. The Cardinals rallied for a season high 48.875 team score on the floor to win the meet.
Brodbeck won the event with a career high 9.900, which tied for the 10th best floor score in Ball State history. Emmons placed second with a 9.850, and Amber Parsley added a career best 9.775 and Christa Greinke tallied a career high 9.625. Nicole Allen contributed a 9.725 on the floor.
