Gymnastics Team Opens Season Sunday at Western Michigan

Ball State's women's gymnastics team, under the direction of third-year head coach Nadalie Walsh, will open the 2010 season Sunday with a 1 p.m. meet at Western Michigan.
The Cardinals return two individuals who advanced to the NCAA Central Regional a year ago.
Brittney Emmons, who competed on vault and floor at the Regional, competed in all 12 meets for the Cardinals last season. She scored a 9.7 or better in 10 out of 12 meets on the vault, and set career highs in the vault (9.875), beam (9.7), floor (9.825), bars (9.4) and all-around (38.500) a year ago as a true freshman.
Bibiana Rodriguez, a senior for the Cardinals, advanced to the NCAA Central Regional on the uneven bars last season. She was an All-Mid-American Conference First-Team selection and was the MAC Co-Champion on hte uneven bars.
At last year's MAC Championship, hosted by Ball State, the Cardinals tallied a team score of 191.675 to tie Eastern Michigan for fifth place. Kent State won the meet with a 194.500, giving the Golden Flashes a second straight MAC Championship. Central Michigan was second with a 194.375, Northern Illinois was third with a 192.700, Bowling Green was fourth with a 192.425 and Western Michigan was seventh with a 190.075.
