Football Team Names 2009 Co-Captains

Brandon Crawford (Fort Wayne, Ind./South H.S.) and Madaris Grant (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Healthy H.S.), both senior members of the Ball State University football team have been named co-captains for the 2009 season.
The Cardinals will open the 2009 season Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. game, nationally televised on ESPNU, against North Texas at Ball State's Scheumann Stadium.
Crawford, a 33-year-old fifth-year senior, was a 2008 All-Mid-American Conference Second-Team selection after receiving third-team honors in 2007. After completing high school, Crawford worked in Fort Wayne and joined the Marines. He began his collegiate football career in 2006 and earned his bachelor's degree from Ball State in 2008. Crawford started all 14 games last season to earn his third letter. He tied for third on the team with eight tackles for loss and was fourth on the team with three sacks.
Grant is a fifth-year senior tight end for the Cardinals. He played in all 14 games for the Cardinals last season, and started 12 contests, while earning his third letter. Grant managed a career high five catches for a career best 92 yards vs. Eastern Michigan last season. He has played in all 38 games in his first three seasons at Ball State.
