Football Team Reaches Halfway Point of Fall Camp
August 15, 2009 | Football
The Ball State football team continued preparations for its Sept. 3, season opener at Scheumann Stadium vs. North Texas and has reached the halfway point of Fall Camp.
The Cardinals vs. North Texas will be a 7:30 p.m. start on ESPNU.
"We still have a lot of work to do, but fall camp has been very good so far," Ball State head coach Stan Parrish says. "We have to protect better on offense, and we have to execute. We have a lot of talented young football players, but they need to get in more reps. The young players now know what is expected of a Ball State football student-athlete, so the practices are productive. We are just about halfway through fall camp, so we have accomplished a lot, but have a long way to go. We are keeping MiQuale Lewis fresh through camp and working him hard while getting his legs the proper rest. Kelly Page is continuing to learn the system at quarterback, and Tanner Justice and Aaron Mershman are providing the necessary depth. Coach (Doug) Graber's defense is coming together and the players have a great understanding of what he expects. We are looking forward to the next 15 or so practices as we prepare for the season opener."
The Cardinals will continue preparations for the next two and a half weeks before kicking off against North Texas. Practices will continue and school starts for Ball State Aug. 24. Fall Camp started for Ball State with newcomers reporting Aug. 3, while the veterans reported Aug. 4.
