Vitek Earns GLSCL All-Star Game MVP Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State junior third baseman Kolbrin Vitek (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) is having a strong performance in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League as he was named the Most Valuable Player in the GLSCL All-Star Game in Cincinnati, Ohio. Vitek, a member of the Lake Erie Monarchs, hit a second inning solo home run to earn MVP honors.
Vitek, a First Team All-Mid-American Conference selection as a sophomore, is the reigning GLSCL Player of the Week after posting a .381 batting average. He drove in seven runs while posting three doubles, two triples and a home run.
Vitek finished the 2008 season second on the team and sixth in the MAC with a .389 batting average. He also led the MAC in doubles (25), was second in RBI (67), third in slugging percentage (.736), third in total bases (153) and was fourth on the mound in opponent batting average (.268).
This summer Vitek is batting .373 in 26 games for the Monarchs. He leads the GLSCL with 12 doubles and is second in the league with a .647 slugging percentage. He has also tallied five triples, two home runs, eight stolen bases and has scored 26 runs.
