Softball Faces Valparaiso In Home Opener Wednesday

MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Ball State softball team will open at home hosting Valparaiso 2 p.m. Wednesday at the BSU Softball Complex for a double header.
The Cardinals played their first twenty games on the road for an overall record of 8-12. In their last win against Indiana 4-1, junior Jen Reifschneider logged two home runs and three RBI. As a result of her weekend play, she earned South Florida's Under Armour Showcase All-Tournament honors. They closed out 6-7 while in Florida.
Sophomore Alyssa Collins leads Ball State with 22 hits, 10 runs and three RBI for a .379 batting average. Sophomore Lisa Rozanski has stolen a perfect 8-8 bases and leads with three triples, including one against East Tennessee State March 15.
Junior pitcher Elizabeth Milian currently owns a 1.80 ERA with a 6-7 record in 14 appearances. She has struck out 72 batters this season in just under 78 innings of work. She is also batting a .222 average with 10 hits, three runs and six RBI.
ABOUT VALPARAISO
The Crusaders sit at 12-5 and are currently on a four game winning streak after winning nine of the last ten, losing to South Dakota 3-1.
Their top player K.C. Boldt is batting a .500 average. Outfielder Karen Korb earned the Horizon League's Player of the Week as well as named the U.S. Army Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week for her performance of hitting .452 (14-for-31) with nine runs scored as the Crusaders went 5-3 during the week at the Rebel Spring Games.
Valparaiso is 1-6 against Ball State after splitting last year for its first win 1-0.
