Benbow Named MAC West Player Of The Week

Benbow posted a .600 batting average (nine-of-15) in the Cardinals' four-game series against Big 12 power Missouri. He tallied a series-best nine hits in the four games as he drove in five runs and scored four runs. He tallied 17 total bases on the weekend for a 1.133 slugging percentage while notching two doubles and two home runs.
In Saturday's first game, Benbow tied his career-high with five hits and reached base a career-high six times in the Cardinals' victory. With the weekend, he raised his batting average 159 points to .359 on the year. He also posted a .684 on-base percentage for the weekend.
Benbow and the Cardinals will open the home portion of the 2009 regular season this weekend when they host Chicago State in a four-game series at Ball Diamond. First pitch Friday afternoon is at 3 p.m.
