Gymnastics Team Travels to Kentucky Friday

The Ball State women's gymnastics team, under the direction of second-year head coach Nadalie Walsh and graduate assistants Katie Malott and Vanessa Virbitsky, will compete at Kentucky Friday with North Carolina, Illinois and William & Mary.
Illinois enters the meet with an 11-5 overall record and ranked 15th in the country. The host Wildcats are 2-6 this season. North Carolina opened the 2009 season ranked 28th in the nation, while William & Mary is 2-15 this season.
The Cardinals tallied a 190.975 to 189.800 Mid-American Conference victory at home over Western Michigan Sunday to improve to 2-6 overall and 1-5 against league competition.
Fifth-year senior Teresa Phipps led Ball State last weekend with individual victories in the vault (9.775) and all-around (38.675). Freshman Domenique DeRosa posted a victory in the uneven bars (9.775), and freshman Brittney Emmons tallied an individual title in the floor exercise (9.725).
Ball State managed its best team score of the year on the bars vs. Western Michign with a 48.500 showing. Ball State's top team score this season is a 193.100 in a loss to nationally ranked Southeast Missouri State.
