February 10, 2009 | Gymnastics
The Ball State University women's gymnastics team has signed two recruits -- Nicole Allen (Buford, Ga./Hebron Christian Academy H.S./Georgia Gymnastics Academy) and Morgan Coslow (Louisville, Ky./Brown H.S./Champion Gymnastics) -- to national letters of intent to attend Ball State and compete on the women's gymnastics team, according to second-year head coach Nadalie Walsh.
"We are very excited to have these two student-athletes join the Ball State gymnastics program," Walsh says. "Nicole is an extremely talented athlete with many of the high level skills we are looking for as we continue to build the Ball State program. She is extremely kind hearted and driven, two qualities we think will make her very successful at Ball State. Morgan had a persistent desire to become a member of the Ball State Cardinals throughout the entire recruiting process. Morgan has many leadership qualities which will make her a great addition to our program. She is a very confident gymnast. We are looking forward to their arrival on our campus next fall."
Allen, who owns a 3.7 grade-point average on Hebron Christian Academy's 4.0 scale, was a Level 10 gymnast for the Georgia Gymnastics Academy. She qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Allen placed second in the all-around at the 2008 regionals after placing fourth in the all-around at the 2006 and 2007 regionals. She was a Level 9 New York State Champion and was the state floor champion in 2006. The daughter of Josh and Bobette Allen, she is a member of the National Honor Society and plans on majoring in biology at Ball State.
Coslow attends J. Graham Brown High School and competes as a Level 10 gymnast for Champion Gymnastics. She helped her club team to the Kentucky State Championship in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Coslow was the 2008 Kentucky State Champion on the vault, bars, floor and all-around, while finishing second on the beam. In addition, she was the 2007 Kentucky State Champion on the vault and finished third in the all-around. In 2006, Coslow was second in the all-around at the state championships. She placed 35th in the all-around at the 2007 Junior Olympic Nationals and placed fifth in the all-around at the 2007 Region V Regionals. A four-time Level 10 regional qualifier, Coslow was a 2001 TOPS National Qualifier. She was awarded her team's 110 Percent Award four times and was a three-time selection for her squad's Most Improved Gymnast award. The daughter of Ty and Kimberly Coslow, she owns a 3.92 GPA on the school's 4.0 scale and is a member of the National Honor Society. Coslow plans to major in exercise science at Ball State.
Ball State's gymnastics team will compete at Eastern Michigan Sunday and at Southeast Missouri State Feb. 19 before returning for its final regular season home meet of the season vs. Western Michigan Feb. 22. The Cardinals will host the 2009 Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Championships March 21 at Worthen Arena.
