Bronze Stalk Game
Ball State and Northern Illinois play each year for the Bronze Stalk in a rivalry game which was announced at the 2007 game and began with the 2008 contest. Ball State and NIU first played each other in football in 1941. The trophy was designed by local DeKalb, Ill., artist and nationally recognized sculptor Renee Berris.

Ball State Head Coach Stan Parrish: Coach Parrish (Heidelberg '69) is in his fifth season at Ball State, and in his first full season as the school's head coach . . . Parrish was named the Cardinals 15th head football coach Dec. 18, 2008, and was the head mentor in Ball State's Jan. 6, 2009, GMAC Bowl appearance . . . Parrish became the first Ball State assistant coach to be promoted to head coach since Wave Myers in 1968 . . . Parrish was one of five finalists for the 2008 Broyles Award, which goes to the nation's top assistant coach . . . He owns a 58-50-3 career head coaching record, which include's stints at Wabash (1978-82), Marshall (1984-85) and Kansas State (1986-88) . . . Parrish earned a college football national championship ring as a member of the 1997 Michigan coaching staff and owns a NFL Super Bowl ring after serving as the quarterbacks coach of the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Northern Illinois Head Coach Jerry Kill: Coach Kill (Southwestern '83) is in his second season as the head coach at Northern Illinois and in his 16th season as a collegiate head mentor . . . He owns a 12-10 record at Northern Illinois and a 116-67 career mark . . . Kill came to NIU after spending 14 years as the head coach at Saginaw Valley State, Emporia State and Southern Illinois.
Scouting Northern Illinois: The Huskies improved to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-American Conference with a 50-6 home win over Eastern Michigan Thursday night . . . Northern Illinois has posted MAC victories over Western Michigan (38-3), Miami University (27-22), Akron (27-10) and EMU, while suffering its lone conference loss at Toledo (20-19) . . . NIU posted a 28-21 win at Purdue in September, which marked its first win over a Big Ten opponent in 21 years.
