After the Cardinals came up with another defensive stop, sophomore placekicker Ian McGarvey kicked his first of two field goals on the day. McGarvey's second field goal, a 47-yarder, tied a career-high set in the International Bowl in 2007.
McGarvey also made five extra points, notching his 36th consecutive made extra point, dating back to last year.
The sophomore's second field goal came after KSU scored its second touchdown, an 18-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Bayes.
Senior defensive back Trey Buice recorded his third-career interception at the BSU 41-yard line following McGarvey's second field goal.
The Cardinals were able to put the game away with a 15-play, 59-yard drive resulting in Lewis' third touchdown and extending the BSU lead to 41-14.
KSU responded with a 15-play drive of its own that ended in another touchdown run by Edelman. The extra point attempt by Nate Reed was blocked by junior defensive end Brandon Crawford and led to the final score of 41-20.
BSU won the time-of-possession category for the second week in a row holding the football for 33:27.
“It was obviously nice to get back to the game of football and pull out a win today,” Hoke says. “While we did enough to win, we have a lot to work on to win a conference championship.”
The Cardinals will attempt to add to their best start since 1988 when they travel to MAC-rival
