Wilkinson Named Director of Volleyball Operations at OSU

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Shane Wilkinson has joined the Ohio State women's volleyball staff as Director of Volleyball Operations head women's volleyball coach Geoff Carlston announced Thursday. His duties range from video tape exchange, video breakdown and statistical analysis to team travel and community service involvements.
"Shane comes to us with a wealth of great experience both on the administrative end and in technology," Carlston said. "He will oversee all of our video breakdown for the season, an incredible asset for our program.
"That allows our coaches to focus on training our student-athletes. Shane also will help our staff with the day-to-day office logistics of running a top volleyball program, including the development of our Lil Spikers/Big Sister Program, organizing our Friends of the Program and alumni databases, coordinating all video exchange and practice statistics, and assisting with the marketing and promotion of the Ohio State volleyball program within the community."
Prior to coming to Ohio State, the Princeton, Ind. native served as the administrative assistant to Ball State University's women's volleyball team. From 2004-08, Wilkinson orchestrated video breakdown, statistical analysis and assisted with team travel, equipment and match preparation for the Cardinals. He also spearheaded all technology aspects for the program.
Aside from his volleyball responsibilities, Wilkinson served as general manager of WCRD 91.3, Ball State's student radio station. Under Wilkinson's guidance, WCRD recorded seven Communicator Award distinctions last year, the most in the 19-year history of the station. Along with his managerial responsibilities, Wilkinson was also an on-air talent for WCRD as the play-by-play voice for Ball State basketball and men's volleyball. He also worked with Colleges Against Cancer, serving as a team captain for the annual Ball State University Relay for Life. He was elected President of the Student Advisory Council for the Department of Telecommunications in December 2007. In April 2008, Wilkinson received the Ball State University-Department of Telecommunications Senior of the Year award. Wilkinson completed his degree in telecommunications with news emphasis along with a minor in communication studies in May 2008.
Wilkinson currently resides in Columbus, Ohio.
